I have been back in Puerto Viejo for almost 3 weeks now and I'm making some progress in growing my roots! Yesterday I bought myself a bike so I officially have transportation! Something I love about this area is that you really don't need a car. I'm so grateful because I never want to drive again! Puerto viejo and surrounding areas that I like to hang out in are very easily accessible by bike. Anywhere else I want to go, I can easily catch a bus that comes by at every hour.

I have a friend! Her name is Josefina and she is actually the lady who hosted the cooking class for the caribbean dinner I learned how to make! I've been spending a lot of time with her and she has been helping me get settled. She gave me the brilliant idea to start hosting painting classes for tourists! We are going to take the bus to the city (90 minutes away) to look for some deals on paint supplies and canvases, but there is a store in town that has a small selection, I was so excited to learn about it! I am going to host my classes on Airbnb experiences so I am waiting to be approved. There is also a community that is into astrology and card readings so I am planning to make posters to post around town advertising my readings! I feel like I found my calling! I stepped away from the astrology part of me because it wasn't well recieved when I went back to work at texas roadhouse. People are really mean when you love your life! So I'm really grateful I can get back into something I really love doing and I feel passionate about. I'm also promoting my services online more and have recently gained a little bit of a tiktok following so I can start leading people towards my services! I'm very excited to see where things go. I looked at one house already and have plans to look at another house next week. I cannot be too picky as it is difficult to find housing here, so I may have to be out of my comfort zone and get even more comfortable with bugs! So we'll see what I can find. The first place I looked at was super cute, but a little further from the town I like being in than I would like. It is $380/month. This next place I'm checking out is $410/month. I'm currently staying at an airbnb for $500/month. So it's very affordable to settle here, I just need to start bringing in that income! (I'm not worried about it though, I am currently making a lot of connections and people are so willing and ready to help make things work.) I took a permaculture and plant medicine class yesterday where I got to learn a lot about the local plants and how they are used in food and medicine. It was super cool and I ate so many tasty leaves! I'm excited to get settled somewhere so I can have my own garden to grow some tasty and helpful plants. The lady who hosted the class even said she would give me some trimmings to get started! This leaf tasted like garlic!

This leaf tasted like cranberry

Chicken :-)

I have my basics on their way to coming together, so next is tackling the dating scene! I'm thinking it could be difficult as a lot of people here are only around temporarily, and the ones that are here to stay often prefer hooking up with tourists over committing to something. But I have faith I can find my person! Already I am much more pleased with the men here than in the states. They are much more respectable and they can cook!
